Surprisingly, if your keyword phrase is a bit more complicated and it is apart of a specialized niche market then chances are pretty high that you will not need a thousand. But maybe a hundred or less!

Here is the free part. You can have a text link added to a website for free. It can be done through sites like Link Metro or Link Market. Having said that, you will find that it is VERY time consuming. You can buy into their automated system but even that has a certain level of maintenance.

There are certainly other services out there that can accomplish the same goal but much faster but to root out the good from the bad it is best that you consult with a professional.
